Willie Pearl Lugger Cruises

Broomes pearling history is still alive

ABOUT WILLIE

Welcome aboard this magnificent 25.45mtr (Loa) traditional gaff rigged topsail schooner.

Based on a 1901 pearl lugger design she was built by Jack Hoffland and owner Tony Lerard to serve as a pearl lugger collecting shell under license F805. Due to license changes within the pearling industry at the time Willie was never commissioned to undertake these operations and after launching in Fremantle in 1986 she started charters within the tourism industry all along the Western Australian coast.

Willie now operates in Broome year round doing cruises along the world famous cable beach and in historic Roebuck Bay.

Come join us as we sail the afternoon away aboard this traditionally rigged pearl Lugger.

  • try a saltwater spa in the boomnet!
  • climb the rigging
  • kickback in in a hammock
  • eat our delicious afternoon nibbles
  • experience a beautiful Cable Beach sunset with a refreshing drink from our fully licenced bar.

The friendly crew will ensure that your cruise is a memorable one.

Between the months of July to September we search the azure blue waters off Cable Beach for humpback whales, dolphins and turtles as they migrate north for the breeding season. Listen to whalesong through the onboard hydrophone.

The Willie is also available for special charters for any occasion. If you would like a unique venue for your wedding, birthday or Christmas Party or to do an extended charter to the remote Kimberley coast or to Bali for a break we can cater for a wide range of activities.
