Willie Sailing at Rottnest Island!
After an unforgettable 2025 season in Broome, Willie Cruises is setting sail to the southwest coast of WA once again — to the breathtaking waters of Rottnest Island!
Join us for a Rottnest Island Day Sail, where you'll step back in time and experience the allure of sailing along the Kimberley coast, reminiscent of the late 1800s to the early 1970s. Our crew will help you navigate our beautifully restored Gaff-rigged schooner as we coast through crystal-clear waters while sharing the captivating maritime history.
Our 2026 Rottnest season kicks off in December, 2025, and runs through to March 2026, before we return to beautiful Broome. Whether you’re a curious traveller or simply chasing the sun, sea breeze, and serenity — this is a day on the water you won’t forget. Discover pristine beaches, vibrant marine life, and a side of Rottnest Island that few get to see — from the deck of a legendary vessel. We might be biased, but this is a truly special adventure not to be missed!
A once-in-a-lifetime experience, you’re invited to explore another magical Western Australia coastline aboard our famous ‘Willie’ Pearl Lugger. Choose our exciting ticketed daily cruises or book a private charter tailored just for you.
Your journey begins with a convenient pick-up from our converted ex-pearl farm tender, which will meet you on the beach between Thomson Bay's main port jetty and the fuel jetty. From there, you'll be transferred to Willie, moored nearby. Depending on the wind conditions, we’ll set sail along either the northern or southern side of the island, where your adventure awaits!
Once aboard, enjoy a brief safety orientation before joining the crew in hoisting the sails or simply take in the ambience with a beverage in hand - the choice is yours! Your journey then begins as we set sail towards the horizon, and embark on a 1.5 to 2-hour adventure. Along the way, you'll hear fascinating stories about the history of the Willie, the evolution of the Broome pearling industry, and the rich heritage of Rottnest Island.
After sailing along the stunning coastline, we’ll anchor in one of the island’s pristine bays, where you can enjoy a light lunch. You’ll also have the option to purchase a selection of chilled beverages from our fully licensed open deck bar.
Now is the perfect time to sit back, relax, and take in the unforgettable views, or seize the opportunity for a refreshing swim in the comfort of our boom nets. We aim to make your day at sea both relaxing and adventurous.
